Common Lab Values Poster
This visual patient education wall decor simplifies complex concepts into an easy-to-explain format.
I was astounded by how many patients did not know what an HbA1c was, or the difference between Systolic and Diastolic Blood pressure, or what their Cholesterol numbers mean - and some of them have been on medications for 10-30 years for the above conditions.
That is unacceptable.
Most wall art in clinics is either boring and generic, or so saturated with detailed information that are more for the providers than the patients. This series changes that.
Patients need to understand what we are doing as clinicians and why, they need to be part of the plan - in order to stick to the plan - for the desired outcome. I dislike hearing, "I don't know why I take that, someone told me to take it 10 years ago and I have been taking it ever since."
I believe we can do better as clinicians as a whole, and these series help explain concepts in a similar and easy to understand context.
Created by a former U.S. Army medic / Physician Assistant and current Family Medicine Physician Assistant, this series was designed after years of explaining the same concepts over and over — and realizing visuals work better than words alone.
Designed for real clinical use, this wall decor helps providers:
• Helps Explain medical concepts to patients with visuals they can enjoy
• Improve patient understanding and engagement
• Reduce repeated explanations during visits
• Create a more professional and educational exam room environment
Perfect For:
• Primary care clinics
• Family Medicine Offices
• Nurse practitioners & physician assistants
• Physicians and residents
• Nutrition and wellness offices
I truly hope these get out and, in the clinics, as my patients have truly enjoyed them - and after sitting in an exam room and staring at the otoscope dispenser or clear jars of 4x4's - I think we owe it to the patients to do better.
"Always improve your foxhole" - something can always be better; you can always be a little more prepared.
